Our mission is to bring people and animals together to enrich each other's lives.
We are an open-admission shelter that does not refuse any animal surrendered to us, regardless of size, age, temperament, or location at which it was found. In 2004, we took in nearly 1200 animals. Most of the animals we see are dogs and cats, but we do accept birds, ferrets, rabbits, and guinea pigs. We offer the community a variety of educational programs, and, of course, we have a companion animal adoption program.
Our Services
We provide: - A companion animal adoption program
- Educational programs for adults and children
- Free pet behavior advice and counseling
- Spay/neuter assistance
- A companion animal cremation service
How you can help:
The next time you want to adopt a new animal family member, come visit the shelter. You can also volunteer, donate goods or services, or make a cash donation. We also welcome donations of food, towels, blankets, rags. Please see our wish list for giving ideas! The next time someone mentions that they want to adopt a new pet..send them to us!
Take Us Home Today!
At the shelter you will have an opportunity to meet and visit with your potential new companion. Spend as much time as you need getting to know an animal. Adoption counselors will work with you to help find that perfect pet, but bear in mind that this may often require more than one visit. We are continually receiving new animals and evaluating their placements. If you do not find that perfect companion the first time you visit, you are sure to find him or her in subsequent visits.
An adoption counselor will answer all your questions and review important information with you. They can help you decide what size, age, breed and temperament will most successfully meet your expectations. They will review information about your pet's adjustment to his or her new home, housetraining, health concerns, vaccinations, nutrition, training, grooming, etc.
Because adopting an animal is a family decision, we ask that when possible you bring your entire family, including any resident dogs, to meet your potential companion.
The entire adoption process can be time consuming. But spending time getting to know your future companion and asking any questions before taking your new companion home will help to ensure a perfect match for the years ahead. We ask for your patience and cooperation in the process of bringing pets and people together!
